I am an only child too. My parents didnt have the best relationship with their siblings so holidays were never a big deal… Many times our “celebration” would mirror yours. My dad would give my mom cash as a present – which would make her so angry… We would do the chinese food / movie thing but at least we are jewish

I am enjoying the holidays now more as an adult because I really do like my husbands family, but many years there is drama – which makes a beach get away so much better…
