I would add that when you decide to make the leap from having a “hobby business” to a “real business,” make time to write out a 5-year plan. Start with where you want your business to be 5 years from now (small? growing? big? IPO-ready?) and then work backwards from there so you have a road map for the direction of your business. The “Let me just see where this goes” winds up costing a lot down the road, when you’re trying to cast long-term vision but are distracted with the urgency of day-to-day operations.
